Our Top 10 Best Disney World Ride Attractions for Young Children

Walt Disney World is well known for offering attractions and entertainment for all ages. However, for families visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth, knowing which rides are best suited for young children can help them avoid some unpleasant moments.

Recognizing that not all children or parents are the same, we wanted to share our Top 10 Best Ride Attractions for young children at Walt Disney World.

10.  Na'vi River Journey (Animal Kingdom)

The only Animal Kingdom attraction on our list, Na'vi River Journey is a slow water ride through a wondrous Pandora forest. There is plenty to see and the animatronic at the end is one of the best. The ride is also over fairly quickly, so no worries about being stuck too long if your child is ready to move on.

9.    The Seas with Nemo and Friends (Epcot)

The Seas with Nemo and Friends holds a special place in our hearts. It has been a favorite of ours for years and is one of our must do's in Epcot. Little fans of Finding Nemo will love this one, but look out for the angler fish scene which can be a little frightening to the youngest children. The exit into the aquarium is a bonus.

8.    Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid (Magic Kingdom)

Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid has almost identical ride carts as Nemo and the queue has some fun interactive elements at certain points. Young children will enjoy this fun retelling of Ariel's adventures.

7.    Journey Into Imagination with Figment (Epcot)

The Dreamfinder may not be around anymore, but Figment remains a beloved character at Epcot. Older Disney fans may be desperate for this attraction to go through a re-imaging, but younger riders will enjoy interacting with Figment while on a journey to learn about imagination.

6.    Prince Charming Regal Carrousel (Magic Kingdom)

Carrousels remain one of the best rides for young children. As a matter of fact, it was watching his own children on the carrousel that inspired Walt Disney to develop the idea that eventually became Disneyland. This is a must do for families with young children.

5.    The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Magic Kingdom)

What child doesn't love Pooh and his assorted cast of friends? Hop in and take a lovely journey through the hundred acre woods.

4.    Peter Pan's Flight (Magic Kingdom)

From the moment cast members sprinkle your pirate ship with pixie dust, riders are taken an a journey to Neverland and back. This is a favorite of riders both young and old. It also has one of the longest stand by wait times, so consider rope dropping or check it our during fireworks at night.

3.    Dumbo the Flying Elephant (Magic Kingdom)

There are a few versions of a slow moving spinning ride (Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Triceratops Spin, Astro Orbiter, etc.), but our pick for young children is a Magic Kingdom classic - Dumbo, the Flying Elephant. Join Dumbo and Timothy Mouse as he flys over the circus area and provides neat views of Fantasyland.

2.    Frozen Ever After (Epcot)

The Norway pavilion at Epcot is home to the attraction your Frozen fan must do. Frozen Ever After takes you on a journey that includes all of your favorite Frozen characters. This is mostly a slow moving boat ride with a short part that goes backwards though this part is not too intense for young riders.

1.    Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway (Hollywood Studios)

Our top pick for young children is Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. This attraction replaced The Great Movie Ride, which was a favorite of many older guests. However, this family friendly trackless ride is the first ride to feature Mickey Mouse, has a great story (there are actually 2 different stories going on), and has one of the most unique pre-show illusions at WDW. Your Mickey fan will love this ride.

What do you think?

What WDW attractions do you think are the best ones for young children?
